INTRODUCTION

We aim to bring the countries of the northern hemisphere closer to the reality of those countries where REMAR is working and cooperating in development projects, we try to make young people and adults aware of the North/South inequalities, and we work towards the generating of attitudes and values in favour of human rights and the opportunity for full development for everyone in both hemispheres. We use several strategies to achieve our objective, such as campaigns, the publication of magazines, congresses, etc.

Our desire is to make the richer countries aware of the realities of the developing world and the need for a North-South cooperation. We do this through the production and transmission of audiovisual programmes, through handbooks, through publicity campaigns … which encourage action in solidarity, inform about the cooperation efforts being made in Europe, and generate attitudes and values in favour of human rights and the opportunity for full development for everyone in both hemispheres.

We believe that, in order to make the richer nations aware of the situation in the third world countries, the citizens themselves need to participate, and what better method than that of reckoning on the work of young people and volunteers, with this, in its turn, generating within them altruistic values and social commitment towards the least protected.

REMAR SPAIN relies on volunteer personnel in each one of these third world countries where it is active, and we can provide reliable information on each situation.
Sensibilization and Training for Development are two complementary areas which work in coordination to carry out initiatives aimed at promoting reflection and social commitment from the reality of the North.
Coordinating our effort with that of other non-governmental organizations and social movements widens the impact of our actions and increases the citizens’ options for collaboration.
